Year in Review and Looking Ahead
As 2024 winds down, I find myself reflecting on all we’ve accomplished together in 2024. It has been a year of growth and collaboration for the AAE, and I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved as an endodontic community.
Endodontists’ share of endodontic patients and treatments has continued to grow. This upward trend is positive for endodontists and positive for our patients.
Our Save Your Tooth Month initiative exceeded expectations with creative and engaging efforts. Our media campaign reached a total audience of over 20 million people as we continued to dazzle the public in a big way, with a Satellite Media Tour and a Times Square billboard!
Our media outreach efforts reached new heights in 2024, too, as we appeared in high-profile titles like People, TIME, and The New York Times.
AAE advocacy efforts have been more active than ever this year. Our member volunteers and advocacy team engaged key stakeholder groups including dental insurance directors, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the DC Council, state legislators, US Congress members, the US Supreme Court, and others. Members and patients alike benefit from these efforts, with major advances on key issues at the local, state, and national level.
The Foundation for Endodontics surpassed our annual fundraising goal and continues to actively support endodontic research, education, and access to care. The Foundation is a source of pride for our specialty and is the flagship philanthropic organization in dentistry.
We hosted outstanding meetings in 2024 – AAE24, APICES, and Insight Track – in Los Angeles, Austin, and Banff, respectively. Collectively, these meetings brought together approximately over 5,000 members of the endodontic community for education, networking, and camaraderie. Member feedback from all three meetings was overwhelmingly positive, as we continually strive to find ways to outdo ourselves. We welcomed 73 new Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics at AAE24, and we congratulate these members on this honor.
We also have much to look forward to in 2025. Registration opens this week for AAE25 in Boston! Our annual meeting is always a time to connect, learn, and inspire one another, and this year will be no exception. From exploring cutting-edge techniques to sharing insights on patient care and practice management, we’re preparing a dynamic program that will energize and equip you for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Thanks to our Annual Meeting Planning Committee and track organizers for their diligent efforts in developing the superb program. I truly hope to see you all in Boston!
As we turn the page on 2024, I want to thank each of you for your dedication to our specialty and to the patients we serve. Together, we are advancing the science, practice, and perception of endodontics. I’m grateful to be on this journey with you and look forward to all we will accomplish in 2025.
