Update on Summer Meetings
The era of COVID-19 is an unprecedented time that has affected multiple AAE meetings. Here is an update on events that were to happen in August 2020:
APICES 2020
APICES 2020, which was scheduled to be held at the Chicago Hilton on August 28-29, 2020, is canceled. Based on the continued COVID-19 restrictions that may be in place through August, this course of action was deemed best for this meeting. There were concerns with the design of the conference, which required attendees to share hotel rooms, and convene in large hotel ballrooms and public spaces with all attendees, staff and vendors. There is continued uncertainty around when the city of Chicago and state of Illinois’ phased reopening will allow groups larger than 50 to meet.
APICES will not be conducted in a virtual format, as this is a style of meeting that largely depends on face-to-face interaction and networking for its success. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2021!
2020 Educator Workshop
The Educational Affairs Committee has resolved to hold the 2020 Educator Workshop, directed toward program directors, as a three-hour virtual session, on Saturday, August 8, 2020, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. CT, with one hour to invite AAE’s corporate partners of the Corporate Community Conference to join the educators.
Corporate Community Conference
Based on the current COVID-19 restrictions and continued uncertainty around timing for the city and state phased reopening, it was decided that the Corporate Community Conference be held virtually. As mentioned above, AAE’s corporate partners of the Corporate Community Conference will join the educators during their Virtual Educator Workshop on Saturday, August 8.
