Now Available – Seven Updated AAE Position Statements
During the AAE’s recent Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors approved minor revisions to seven AAE positions statements overseen by the Practice Affairs Committee.
- Use of Mouth Guards to Prevent Injury
- Use of Silver Points
- Dental Dams
- Natural Rubber Latex Allergy
- Scope of Endodontics – Extraction of Teeth
- Access to Care
- Paraformaldehyde – Containing Endodontic Filling and Sealing Materials
Each position was reviewed and updated by committee members to ensure they remain accurate and reflect current clinical practices.
In total over 30 AAE position statements are available, each representing the organization’s position on topics of interest to endodontists. They are often used to help guide those new to the profession and can help to amplify the AAEs view on quality endodontic services, educating consumers and decision makers to make informed decisions. AAE leadership also recently shared these position statements with the leading insurance carriers’ dental directors in an effort to better educate them about the work of the specialty and better position our members in coding determinations.
Existing position statements are regularly reviewed and updated by the Practice Affairs Committee to determine if the topic remains relevant, the perspectives or references need updating, or if the document should be archived from the website. New positions statements are developed as topics arise. Members can submit ideas to: advocacy@AAE.org.
