New Leaders at the Helm of the American Association of Endodontists
The American Association of Endodontics ushers in 2017-2018 with new officers and Board of Director members, appointed at the Association's recent annual meeting in New Orleans.
Garry L. Myers, D.D.S., President. Dr. Myers is the graduate program director of endodontics at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. He joined the VCU faculty in 2014 after 16 years in private practice in Tumwater, Wash. Dr. Myers received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1985. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force, where he completed a residency program in endodontics at Wilford Hall Medical Center in 1991 and subsequently completed the requirements to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 1994. He previously served as District VI director, secretary, vice president and president-elect on the Board of Directors and is a past president of the Washington State Association of Endodontists. As president, Dr. Myers also sits on the Foundation for Endodontics Board of Trustees.
Patrick E. Taylor, D.D.S., M.S., President-Elect. Dr. Taylor has been in private endodontic practice in Bellevue, Wash., since 1998. Prior to that, he served in the U.S. Navy Dental Core, last serving as the executive officer of the Naval Dental Center, Pearl Harbor. He received his D.D.S. from the University of California at San Francisco and his Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Washington in Seattle. He currently holds an appointment as an affiliate associate professor at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr. Taylor is a Diplomate and past president of the American Board of Endodontics. He previously served on the AAE Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006. As president-elect, Dr. Taylor also sits on the Foundation for Endodontics Board of Trustees.
Keith V. Krell, D.D.S., M.S., M.A., Vice President. Dr. Krell has spent the past 27 years in private practice in West Des Moines, Iowa. He currently serves as an adjunct clinical professor of endodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, and served there as the graduate program director until 1989. He retired from the U.S. Army National Guard as a lieutenant colonel in 1993 after 22 years of service. Dr. Krell received his D.D.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Iowa. A Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, Dr. Krell has held several executive positions, including as past director and president of the American Board of Endodontics and the Foundation for Endodontics. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Journal of Endodontics and is a reviewer for JADA. As vice president, Dr. Krell also sits on the Foundation for Endodontics Board of Trustees.
Linda G. Levin, D.D.S., Ph.D., Immediate Past President. Dr. Levin received her D.D.S and Certificate in Endodontics from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. As a Physician Scientist Award Recipient from the National Institutes of Health she completed a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology at UNC School of Medicine in 1995. With more than 20 years of experience at the UNC School of Dentistry, currently an adjunct associate professor, Dr. Levin served as the department chair of endodontics and authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, book chapters and review articles in the areas of endodontics and pulp biology. Dr. Levin maintains a private practice in Durham N.C., and is a Diplomate and past president of the American Board of Endodontics. As immediate past president, Dr. Levin also sits on the AAE Foundation Board of Trustees.
Ali Behina, D.M.D., M.S., F.A.C.D., District I Director representing Delaware, Washington, D.C., Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Virginia. Dr. Behina has worked in private practice in Rockville, Md. since 2002. He earned his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and his Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Among his many professional and committee appointments, Dr. Behina currently serves as president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors for the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, on the board of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, and as a site visitor for the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
Richard L. Rubin, D.D.S., M.S., District II Director representing Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. Dr. Rubin balances his professional time between his roles in private practice in Fairport, N.Y., as clinical assistant professor at the University at Buffalo, and as attending and section head of endodontics at Rochester General Hospital. Dr. Rubin currently serves on the Seventh District Dental Society Board of Directors, the New York State Association on Endodontics' Executive Committee, and as a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He received his D.D.S. and Certificate in Endodontics from the University at Buffalo. Dr. Rubin previously served on the AAE Board of Directors from 2011-2014.
William H. Rousseau, D.M.D., District III Director representing Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Dr. Rousseau is a private-practicing endodontist in Atlanta, where he began his professional career in 2000. He received his D.M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia and his Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. A member of the U.S. Navy Dental Corps, Dr. Rousseau spent three years of active duty stationed at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. His involvement in professional organizations includes the Georgia Association of Endodontists, the International College of Dentists, the American Board of Endodontists and the College of Diplomates.
Joseph A. Petrino, D.D.S., M.S., District VI Director representing Alaska, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Dr. Petrino is in private practice in Missoula, Mont. He obtained his D.D.S. and his M.S. from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and earned a GPR from the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2012. His current professional affiliations include the American Dental Association and the Montana Dental Association.
Daniel J. Pierre, D.D.S., M.S., District VII Director representing California. Dr. Pierre has been in private practice in Monterey, Calif., since 2008. He received his D.D.S. from Marquette School of Dentistry and his M.S. from the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Pierre is a past president of the Monterey Bay Dental Society and is active in the California State Association of Endodontists. He is also a member of the American Dental Association.
