Congratulations to Dr. Anibal Diogenes for Winning the Prestigious Piper Teaching Award

Anibal Diogenes, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., professor and vice-chair of the Department of Endodontics within the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry, was named a 2022 Piper Professor by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation.

“Although Anibal does not play baseball (his only weakness) – he is truly a triple threat!” said JOE Editor Dr. Ken M. Hargreaves of his friend and colleague. “He is an outstanding educator, clinician and scientist. He is a role model to all of us, young and, uh, senior. We are so happy for the recognition of the Piper Award – the first dentist ever and the first Endodontist to receive this prestigious recognition. Way to go!”

The Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation is a local non-profit, charitable corporation that awards excellence in teaching and supports Texas students through scholarship and student loan programs. The Piper Professor Award was established in 1958 to recognize superior teaching at the university level and is made annually to only 10 educators across Texas, honoring their outstanding achievements in teaching.
