APICES Wrap-Up and Save the Date
APICES 2017 Wrap-Up and 2018 Save the Date Coming Soon
2017 marked the 14th year of APICES! The program, founded in 2004 by two post-graduate students looking for a unique educational and social experience for endodontic residents, has become a “sell-out” event year after year. APICES is completely free to all residents, providing registration, lodging and meals, as well as a travel stipend to offset the financial burden of attending. These gracious offerings are available because of the support provided by a variety of corporate sponsors.
In order to expand the capacity of attendance to 300 residents, the AAE spent the past 12 months determining the best ways to increase the capacity, including a move to a larger city/venue, higher sponsorship goals and greater support from sponsors. Thanks to these considerations, 300 residents were able to attend this year’s APICES — 100 more than were able to attend in the past! The AAE’s Resident and New Practitioner Committee is working to continually address the issue of attendance capacity in the future.
The meeting provided residents with an opportunity to hear speakers on a variety of topics, including microbiology and practice management, and a chance to learn about the family of AAE organizations. Sponsors supporting the APICES opportunity for residents were thrilled with the chance to interface with attendees during meals, breaks and social events.
Likewise, residents enjoyed the weekend-long experience, where they met future colleagues, formed new relationships and learned about their specialty.

Information about APICES 2018 in Chicago is coming soon! Please stay tuned for a save-the-date, which will be made available on the AAE’s APICES webpage. A major initiative of the Resident and New Practitioner Committee is to accommodate more resident attendees at APICES. As both the interest and demand have grown for the symposium, the committee has done its best to respond with the resources available. In order to create an environment for growth and new expansion, the committee has decided to continue to host APICES in Chicago, home of the AAE. The larger, central location has allowed for the growth of corporate sponsorship opportunities and in turn more attendees. Over time, the committee hopes to expand APICES to the point that all interested residents can attend.
