AAE Member Honored for Research in Pulp Biology

The International Association for Dental Research presented Dr. Ashraf F. Fouad with the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award in Pulp Biology & Regeneration at the IADR’s 46th annual meeting in San Francisco in March. Dr.
Fouad was honored for his contributions to the field of pulp biology both through his own research endeavors, and through his leadership and service within professional groups involved in this area, including serving as secretary, vice president and president of the IADR Pulp Biology &
Regeneration Group.
The focus of Dr.
Fouad’s research in pulp biology emphasizes the importance of understanding the infection inflammation axis in pulpal disease and its profound impact on opportunities for tissue regeneration and maintenance of pulp vitality.
Dr. Fouad is a Jacob Freedland distinguished professor and the chair of the Department of Endodontics,
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. He is a past president of the ABE, an associate editor of the JOE
and served as a co-track organizer for AAE17.
